Transferring an active domain entails changing the domain name registrar that handles the domain registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS resource record updates through the new registrar. The transfer process is standard with most universal and country-specific domain name extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain involves a few necessary procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being embraced by more and more domain name registry operators. It is a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain is locked, it will not be possible to initiate a transfer procedure, so nobody can even attempt to snatch your domain name. The domain lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domain names that support this option are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain registered through us is amazingly easy. This can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with our shared hosting, and will require literally two clicks of the mouse. All your domains will be listed alphabetically in the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the domain lock option, you will notice a padlock-like icon. Click on it once and you’ll notice the domain name’s current status. Click again and you will alter its status. The update will take effect immediately without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup sites, so you can continue with the transfer straight away.
